Arrive at Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest and enjoy lunch at Isaac’s Café. Dine in the Visitor Center and explore the gift shop. Make a day of wild and adventurous play in nature at Bernheim’s Playcosystem, a 10-acre natural playground. Visit with the Forest Giants’ Mama Loumari and her children, Little Nis, and Little Elina. Climb up in the Spirit Nest or walk among the tree branches on Bernheim’s Canopy Tree Walk (which is handicap accessible and senior friendly). For a bird’s eye view, adventure-on with one of Bernheim’s volunteer naturalists and climb the 961 ft Historic Fire Tower. Hike or bike the wonderous trails featured on the Bernheim Forest website. Note: If Kart Kountry is closed for the season, check out Bullitt County Public Library. The brand new state-of-the-art Central Library, which is in Shepherdsville KY, is open Sundays from 1pm-5pm. There is ton of fun your family can enjoy at any Bullitt County library location for free! From board games to puzzles or books galore, to family story time, to playing in the kid’s area with building blocks and other toys, there is something for each child to enjoy. It’s also a good place for quiet time on the tablet, learning while playing. All libraries welcome visitors to stop in for a short read or participate in any of the many events scheduled throughout the week.
